Criss Cross Messy bun

This was how I did her hair for a dance performance one night. It takes about 20 minutes.

#1 Divide hair from ear to ear. Pull lower hair section into a ponytail, while working with the top section.#2 You will be making 8 square sections. So begin by dividing the top hair into two sections horizontally. Tie off the back section and divide the front section into 4 squares. I split mine down the middle and then do two on one side and two on the other side.
#3 Do the same thing to the other sections. Make 4 square right behind the ones you already made. Tie off each square with an elastic. You should now have 8 squares all lined up.

#4 Begin by dividing the first two sections into 2 pieces. Bring the left piece of the right section over to the left square diagonally behind to it.#5 Now add the right piece of the left section over to the right square diagonally behind it. You should have made your first criss-cross.
#6 Next criss-cross the other sections. If you need help, look at this link to explain here.#7 Add all hair into a high ponytail.#8 Curl hair.

#9 Fold hair over the ponytail so it looks like a circle and tie a clear elastic around it. Bobby pin pieces to the head or use small clippies.
#10 Add a bow and voila....one cute little piggie!

Criss-cross sides up

Okay this is always a hit with the kiddos. My girl loves this hairdo. It is fun and stays for the next days hair as well. This takes about 15-20 minutes.

#1 Get your spray bottle, comb, and elastics. Section out a small square on the top front middle section of her head. Spray with water and comb until nice and smooth and you have good straight lines. (Tip- use the pointy end of a comb do get nice straight parts.) Put that hair into an elastic.#2 Square off 2 more sections doing the same thing on the left and then repeat on the right side. There should now be 5 squared of sections in the front row.#3 Next you are going to make a square starting on the section to the left of the middle and between the middle. You will separate the front ponytails into 2. Taking the right piece from the one on the left, and the left piece from the middle section- comb together with the square you already sectioned off. Add an elastic.#4 Continue doing this on the right. With the far left section- do not split. Just add the whole thing with the left piece from the section right next to it. You should now have a second row of 4 sections
#5 Continue doing the same thing so there should be 3 sections on the third row. You are now done with the criss-cross part of it. Spray with hairspray. Blow dry the rest of the hair.
#6 Straighten with straightening iron.#7 Voila.....one cute little piggie!

Criss Cross Side Pony Tail

So I thought I would do something fun to #1's hair. This hairstyle takes about 20-25 minutes. You need a lot of small elastics.

#1 Part hair in half horizontally and clip away or pull into pony to keep hair out of way.#2 Spray with water bottle and you will begin to section off hair. Start on left side. You want four sections. Use your comb to get nice straight lines and then comb into a little pony tails.
#3. Lay top hair back down and make a part on side of head. You will also make those into four sections. Try to line up your lines. You should now have eight pony tails sticking out.
#4 Braid first pony on left top side 1/2 way down and use an elastic while you combine it to the 2nd bottom section with another elastic. Next braid bottom 1st section and braid 1/2 way up and combine with top 2nd section. Keep criss cross braiding until you get to the final 2 pony tails on the right side of their head. Make sure you spray with water. You want it nice and wet so there are no fly-aways and the braids look nice. I know this might sound super confusing but just look at the pictures and hopefully you will catch on.
#5 Combine top and bottom ponytail into one ponytail. Double band pony. You don't want it coming apart.

#6 Curl hair in the ponytail.

#7 Tease ponytail and spray head generously.

#8 Add a cute headband or bow and voila, you have one cute little piggie!
